These terms govern your use of Worth Leaving. By using this site, you agree to these terms.

What this is

Worth Leaving is a private walk-away calculator and, if you opt in, a private two-sided marketplace. The calculator is free. Pitches on /companies may be paid. Neither is an offer of employment. Using the calculator does not enroll you in company browsing.

On some deployments the calculator is invite-only. That gate is described below. It is not marketplace enrollment.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use this service.

What the calculator does

You can use the calculator at / without an account. Numbers you type stay in this browser's local storage. The equity math runs on your device.

Completing a comparison sends one counter to our server. No exact dollar amounts are in that signal, and it is not linked to an account.

Share links carry no comp data.

Optional advisor

If you activate the advisor, sending a message sends your scenario to an AI provider for conversational advice. Advisor conversations may be retained by the AI provider. If you need that guarantee, don't use the advisor.

Invite-only calculator

When invite-only is on, / is locked until you hold a valid invite.

Ask for an invite. The locked page can collect your email and an optional note if the form includes one. We email that request to the founder through our email provider. We do not write it into our database. Asking is not a mailing list. We do not send follow-ups from that request. If a spot opens, the invite lands in that inbox. The form only appears when delivery is configured. If it isn't, the field isn't shown.

Membership. Redeeming a working invite stores membership in our database and sets an invite membership cookie that lasts one year. Clearing the cookie drops access on that browser. The membership stays until a signed-in delete path exists. Invite membership is not a marketplace profile. It does not show you to companies.

Passing a link to a friend mints membership for them when they redeem it. It does not share your calculator run.

Sign in to get notified

The share panel has "Sign in to get notified" (sometimes described as Notify me). That is candidate acquisition, not a mailing list.

If you enter an email, consent, and sign in:

1. We email a sign-in link through our email provider to prove your inbox. That email is not an offer.
2. After you click the link, we save this calculator run privately as a candidate record. The record holds your email and the scenario you ran.
3. We do not show it to companies until you opt in. The default is off. Recruiter browse cannot see it.
4. We match offers against that private record. We do not email you until there is something real to send.

Signing in from the calculator does not enroll you in company browsing. That is a later opt-in. If you never opt in, companies cannot see the run.

The field only appears when sign-in is configured. If it isn't, the field isn't shown.

Page analytics

Every page loads our hosting provider's analytics, which counts page views. It is cookieless, does not fingerprint your device, and carries none of your comp data. See the privacy page for what it does record.

Signing in

The calculator needs no account. Sign-in is a one-time emailed link, valid for ten minutes and usable once. There is no password. Being signed in sets a session cookie that lasts 30 days. Signing out clears it. During the calculator sign-in flow, a temporary cookie may hold your scenario for those ten minutes, then it is cleared. Where a deployment isn't configured for sign-in, marketplace surfaces are unavailable and no account can be created.

On the locked invite page, signing in is how you restore access you already claimed, on a new device or a cleared browser.

Rate limiting

To stop abuse of sign-ups, sign-in emails, invites, sharing, the advisor, and other site actions, we limit how often those can be repeated. We don't use that for anything else.

Marketplace (opt-in only)

A private calculator run is not a browsable profile. Signing in from the calculator creates the private run. It does not put you on an open roster.

If you later opt in to be seen by companies, they see banded comp ranges, research areas, and seniority. Companies never see your name or email unless you explicitly accept a pitch.

Accepting a pitch reveals your name and email to the company. Declining a pitch never reveals your identity. Accept is the only reveal.

A paid pitch spends a credit. Declining a pitch does not return the credit.

What you agree to

• The calculator is a tool, not advice. It is not career advice, tax advice, or legal advice.
• You enter your own comp data. We don't verify it.
• You will not attempt to probe, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the service.

What we don't collect

No account is required to run the calculator once you can open it. No device fingerprinting. No advertising or ad networks. No third-party identity append or enrichment. No background checks. No credit checks. No FCRA-regulated data, ever.

What we don't promise

We provide the calculator as-is. We do not promise it is always available, always accurate, or fit for any particular decision. The equity math is deterministic and tested, but your inputs and your weights are yours to verify.

Privacy

Full privacy disclosure, including what stays on your device and what doesn't, is at /privacy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as features change. Material changes will be dated and noted at the top. Your continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

A governing law and dispute resolution clause will appear here until there is a legal entity.

Calculator data: Comp numbers you entered are stored in your browser's local storage, not on our server, unless you used the advisor (that scenario went to an AI provider; see Optional advisor above) or you signed in to get notified (that run is saved privately as a candidate record; see Sign in to get notified above). Clear this site's data from your browser settings.

Invite waitlist: If you asked to be let in, that email and optional note went to the founder inbox through our email provider. They are not stored in our database. There is no self-serve delete yet.

Invite membership: If you redeemed a link, membership lives in our database. The invite membership cookie on your device lasts one year. Clearing it drops access on that browser. The membership stays until a signed-in delete path exists.

Private calculator run: If you signed in from the calculator, the run lives in our database. It is not a mailing list. It is not shown to companies until you opt in. Use the signed-in surfaces to manage that record when they exist. Pitches you already sent, and identity reveals from pitches you accepted, are kept.

Marketplace profile: A browsable profile is a later opt-in, not created by the calculator run. If you create one, you can delete it while signed in at /profile when that surface exists.

What can leave your browser: a counter, an optional invite request (via our email provider, to the founder), optional invite membership (stored in our database plus the invite membership cookie), an optional sign-in email and private calculator run (via our email provider and our database), optional advisor messages (to an AI provider), and limits on repeated actions.
