Terms of Service

Last updated: August 27, 2026

This is a draft stub, not launch Terms of Service. No legal entity yet. No contact address. Governing law TBD until there is an entity. Re-sign before launch.

These terms govern your use of Worth Leaving. By using this site, you agree to these terms.

What this is

Worth Leaving is a private walk-away calculator and, if you opt in, an anonymous two-sided marketplace. The calculator is free. Pitches on /companies may be paid. Neither is an offer of employment. Using the calculator does not enroll you in the marketplace.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use this service.

What the calculator does

You can use the calculator at / without an account. Numbers you type are stored in this browser's local storage. The equity math runs on your device.

Completing a comparison sends one anonymous counter to our server: the verdict kind and whether you came from a share link. No exact dollar amounts are in that signal. No identifier ties it to you.

Share links (?s=) carry a banded summary only — rounded ranges like "$200k–$250k", the kind of offer, and whether equity is involved. Legacy links from before 2026-08-25 may still hold exact figures; those still open for whoever holds them.

Optional advisor

If you activate the advisor, sending a message sends your scenario to Anthropic's API for conversational advice. Advisor conversations do not have zero-data-retention protection. If you need that, don't use the advisor.

Optional email updates

The share panel has an optional "Notify me" field. If you submit an email address there, it's sent to our email provider (Resend) and added to a mailing list for future updates. This only happens if you take that action.

Page analytics

Every page loads Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views. It is cookieless, does not fingerprint your device, and carries none of your comp data. See the privacy page for what it does record.

Signing in

The calculator needs no account. The marketplace does. Sign-in is a one-time emailed link, valid for ten minutes and usable once — there is no password. Being signed in sets one cookie, wl_session: HttpOnly, signed, 30 days, carrying your account id and the email you signed in with. Signing out clears it. Where a deployment isn't configured for sign-in, marketplace surfaces are unavailable and no account can be created.

Rate limiting

Our API endpoints use rate limiting. That temporarily holds the requesting IP address in Redis, and for sign-in requests the email address on the request as well. Both expire on a timer. This is not a tracking profile.

Marketplace (opt-in only)

Creating a marketplace profile is a separate action. Calculator usage does not create a profile.

If you create a profile, companies see banded comp ranges, research areas, and seniority. The browse query does not include your current employer. Companies never see your name, email, or current employer until you explicitly accept a pitch.

Accepting a pitch reveals your email to the company. Declining a pitch never reveals your identity. Accept is the only reveal.

A paid pitch spends a credit. Declining a pitch does not return the credit.

What you agree to

  • The calculator is a tool, not advice. It is not career advice, tax advice, or legal advice.
  • You enter your own comp data. We don't verify it.
  • You will not attempt to probe, disrupt, or reverse-engineer any service endpoints beyond what the calculator's own UI calls.

What we don't collect

No accounts for the calculator, and no cookie set by it. No device fingerprinting. No advertising or ad networks. No third-party identity append or enrichment. No background checks. No credit checks. No FCRA-regulated data, ever.

What we don't promise

We provide the calculator as-is. We do not promise it is always available, always accurate, or fit for any particular decision. The equity math is deterministic and tested, but your inputs and your weights are yours to verify.

Privacy

Full privacy disclosure, including what stays on your device and what doesn't, is at /privacy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as features change. Material changes will be dated and noted at the top. Your continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

A governing law and dispute resolution clause will appear here until there is a legal entity.

Contact

There is no contact address on this page yet.

Calculator data: Comp numbers you entered are stored in your browser's local storage, not on our server, unless you used the advisor — in which case that scenario went to Anthropic (see Optional advisor above). To remove localStorage data, clear this site's data from your browser settings.

Optional email updates: If you submitted an email address to "Notify me", it lives in Resend. Use Resend's unsubscribe link to remove it.

Marketplace profile: If you created a candidate profile, you can delete it while signed in at /profile. Pitches you already sent, and identity reveals from pitches you accepted, are kept. This is not a contact-later process.

What can leave your browser: an anonymous verdict counter, an optional email address (via Resend), optional advisor messages (to Anthropic), and temporary IP addresses in Redis for rate limiting.
